Filatov kicking ass in KHL

Your KHL goodie de la semaine
The Blue Jackets winger has been on fire ever since arriving to Russia and CSKA Moscow scoring 3 game winning goals (Morozov has 5 in 25 games) in same amount of games and 4+2 points total with juicy +5. Defensive playing style? Kiss my shiny ass...

As much as I hope this kinda play would've taken place in NHL (my poor, poor fantasy team...), it's good to see him playing so well after having some troubles in Columbus. 4+2 points and juicy +5 in 3 games is at least good performance and will help CSKA to move up in the standings.

And because one vid is not enough to show how great he is, here's another

The I'm thankful for star goalies with ego larger than life edition

If I'm not going to start for sure, I think I'm going to take that time off and rest

So you ungreatful little bitch don't wanna play for Finland unless they make you and your overlarge ego the number one goalie? Fineeee. We get Toskala then. Watch and cry when he gets the Olympic gold.

Seriously though, Finland have Bäckström, Niittymäki - who won us silver in Torino because certain someone was having "hip problems" -, Rask, Rinne and Niemi. And Toskala... So in a way, if he wanna have success in Olympics, he needs Finland a hell lot of a more than Finland needs him.
There's also the fact that having three goalies that all could be starters - Kipper, Bäckström and Niitty - would probably be a bit of bad situation so Kipper trying to exclude himself is actually almost wellcome move since it would solve the problem of who to pic from those 3 and give a place to someone younger with less ego issues. Or to Toskala.

Though, none of this will matter because Russia will take the gold back to motherland.

With the lights out, it's less dangerous

Some say if you insult his mother, he will head butt you in the chest, and that he once punched a horse to the ground. All we know is; he’s called The Kron Wall of Pain*

Sadly for my - failing - fantasy team, Kronwall was injured by a Hab and is now out for 4-8 weeks. Considering that Canadiens have already taken out my numer one dman Markov, I'm starting to think that Montreal hates my fantasy defense. Big time.

You were the last person to doing something for my team... RIP my knight in red

As much as that Kronwall injury sucks, he was quite a lucky compared to this guy.

Yes. He (Yanick Lehoux) was taken out of the ice with ambulance in a game between Södertälje and Brynäs.

*The Stig, you're still number one.

Sometimes I hate when I'm right

Washington 1 - Toronto 2

I did predict that Toronto win but it really doesn't ease the pain.... I'm too lazy to check the stats but I think Caps record without Semin is not too stunning. Can we get him back? Pretty please??
Congrats to Toskala for the win. Sniff

Pens 3 - Thrashers 2

I hate Skoula. And I don't even wanna know what the hell Kovalchuk did to get 19 penalty minutes.

KHL in English, Fedorov goodies

So if they had ultimately given you (Sergei Fedorov) an apartment, that would have been enough to keep you from fleeing to the NHL?
I think so, yeah. Even if they had just provided me with a car, that probably would have been enough for me to stay.

Boy did Russians screw that up...

Trust me, I know what I'm doing.
Anyways, the newborn KHL site in English (I don't know how I survived without it. Honestly.) has this Hot Ice magazine thingy that had interview with Fedorov and his lil brother awhile ago but since it was in Russian, it was pretty useless for me this pic excluded.

The interview
has some interesting answers, especially about the "escape" from Soviet and the Detroit era.

What got my attention was this: "...I had been living by myself since I was 13, and I had time to get used to things. My father came to see me in Moscow a couple of times per year, and in the summers I went to see my parents in Apatity.". I'd say that's pretty harsh way to grow up.

Because we all love Wings... No? Okay, but Feds' still great.

I still wish he would play in Washington.

Verdammt ich lieb dich

You know, I'm more than used to get bitch slapped by hockey but football... You've always treated me better. Until now, that is.
First, Sweden was kicked out of the upcoming World Cup by freaking Denmark. That seriously shattered my world but football wasn't quite done yet. Oh no. Not at all. Last night there was the second part of the qualifier for South Africa and all Russia needed to do was to win. Against Slovenia.
The result?
1-0
For Slovenia.
My life is over.

Suckfest all around NHL, Freddie is back...

With his own blog!

Yeah... I feel your pain Vesa

Capitals 2 - Devils 5

First of all, IT HURTS!
Second of all, I hope Bergfors gets hit by a zamboni.
And third of all, the smoking hot combined -5 Semin and Bäckström delivered did not in any way help my fantasy team. Now excuse me, i need to go to cry.

Flames 5 - Leafs 2

Leafs allowing 2 goals in less than 2 minutes of play? Not stunn... Wait, Gustavsson was in the net??
Yup, it was a shocking start for the Swedish Monster who had to make room for Finnish Kitten after allowing 3rd goal in less than 10 minutes. After that, it was all Finnish goalie factory battle. The Vesa did at least decent (15 saves from 17) but Kipper still be my heart with 38 saves from 40. Now if he just would change the team to a one I actually like...

One for the money and the free rides -Olympic check edition with tears

It's two for the lie that you denied injuries that you have...

Oh, Blue how I miss you.

Team Russia

So, first Jim Carey decided the Hobbits won't need an All Star defenseman and tried to kill Markov. Luckily he might be able to play in February. Then went down Malkin, Kovalchuk and Ovechkin. They all should be back within a month but October was one brutal month for Russia.
On the other hand, team Russia will be full of fresh men since they haven't played too many games in NHL due to a various injuries... Oh and Semin's suckfest doesn't ease the pain NHL has been delivering this far.
I refuse to give up hoping for the gold.

Team Finland

Selänne & Koivu... please, PLEASE, get that old connection back and start to do some magic. Ruutu has been all nice and good scoring them goals while Tuomo has been channeling his inner Jarkko sending opponents to next season and stuff.
The goalies have been mediocre/good.
7th place, here we come!!

Team Sweden

International hockey rule #1: Never ever count Sweden out from the medal games and gold hunt. It doesn't matter what kind of team they have, they will always fihgt and get those lucky rebounds. Always.
That being said, there must be huge amount of junior hockey players near to nevous breakdown in Örnsköldsvik since Foppa has been practising with them. I can only imagine how horrible it must be trying to train and avoid to kill your national hero and his iron bones.
Ni ska inte ta guld igen but quite likely will kill my failing kittens and play in the medal games making my life miserable. In very unfortunate case even in the final.

Trivia question: Which Swede NHL player has seen most icetime thisfar? This guy.
This is before Neil decided to make NHL just a bit more crappy and ended his game last night.

It goes in, baby...

When NHL gives you lemon...

Russia and Morozov will be there to make it all better.

It started really brutally

Then it wass all hot and tied

And then there was nasty handwork by Morozov and the results can be seen here

Спасибо!!

Sochi 2014 bitches

Be there

'Cos Dima Bilan aka one of the Sochi 2014 Ambassadors says so.

Even though Vancouver's Olympic games haven't even began yet, there has been lots of talk about the following winter Olympics, Sochi 2014. As everyone already knows, Vancouver is the last Olympic games that NHL players take a part for sure. Their participation in the 2014 Olympics is very much unsure and NHL's statements haven't give much hope. But the main thing is that majority of the players - European ones at least - truly want to be there and present their countries. Despite the team owners NHL's leaders, the (European) players still respect the Olympic games and want to win that.

Russian superstars like Malkin and Ovechkin have said that it's imposible that they wouldn't be allowed to play in the home Olympics. Both have said that they want and that they will play in Sochi. Personally, I think this is not something the NHL can just ignore. It wouldn't look good if about half of the leagues best players would escape to Sochi, would it? After all Russia is the place people escape to get to NHL, not other way around....

You don't wanna make Bykov and Tretiak angry, do you?
