As a Finn I’m obligated to root for Finland. And I do actually love them, they’re (usually) so cute with the underdog thing, trying hard and playing for the team, giving everything - last Olympics highly excluded. But as a mental whore, I also love Russia. No idea why, but that team - in adult’s tournament though - made their way into my heart over 10 years ago and have stayed there ever since. So in my dream hockeyworld all the finals would be Finland vs Russia and I would live happily ever after.
And this is where the WJC in Buffalo went wrong. Finland has been awesome thisfar, showing their battle mode and stuff while Russia has mostly sucked. Which then lead to my nightmare coming true as those two teams will face each other in quarterfinals. Of course, this means that one of the teams I love (hopefully Finland) will get into semifinals which is very good. But then the hockey gods screwed up again. The winner of this pair will face in semifinals… Sweden! So yeah, you can already send congratulation cards to the Swedes for making the gold medal game. Meanwhile, I'll go get me some tissues for the game.
2. Winter Classic: The meltdown
The game between Capitals and Penguins was supposed to start before midnight my time, but because the weather in Pittsburgh sucks, it is now supposed to start at 3am. So fuck you Pittsburgh weather.
